What started as a modest gift shop has steadily grown into a one-of-a-kind marketplace where creativity, craftsmanship, and homemade flavor come together under one roof.

The heart behind Southern Cottage is its founder, Melanie. After suffering a serious back injury that made it impossible for her to continue working a traditional full-time job, Melanie turned a difficult chapter of life into an opportunity to build something meaningful. Instead of slowing down, she poured her time and energy into creating a small business that could bring joy to others. What began as a small shop focused on gifts quickly evolved as new ideas, products, and passions were added along the way.

Over time, Southern Cottage expanded beyond gifts to include a growing selection of sweets and treats. Homemade candies, dipped treats, and other small-batch confections became a natural addition to the shop, offering customers something both nostalgic and unique. One of the most popular additions has been the cotton candy selection, which now features more than 75 flavors. From classic carnival favorites to fun and unexpected varieties, the cotton candy quickly became a customer favorite for both everyday treats and special events.

As the business continued to grow, another important chapter began when Melanie’s husband, Dom, joined the operation. After closing his own shop, Dom merged his work into Southern Cottage, bringing his craftsmanship and skills with him. His addition expanded the shop’s offerings to include handcrafted woodwork and leather goods made in house. This partnership transformed Southern Cottage from a small gift shop into a truly diverse marketplace where handmade items and homemade foods exist side by side.

Today, Southern Cottage Gifts & Sweet Treats offers a wide range of products that reflect the spirit of a true Southern shop. Customers can find handcrafted leather goods, custom woodwork, herbs and spices, homemade sweets, dipped candies, jerky, and dozens of unique cotton candy flavors. The shop also offers custom apparel and drinkware, including custom T-shirts and tumblers. Customers can browse existing designs or upload their own artwork to create personalized items for gifts, events, or everyday use.
